An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitability experienced, enthusiastic individual to act as Professional Lead and Programme Director (MSc in Physician Associate Studies) leading the Physician Associate team within the Institute of Medical Sciences.

The appointed individual will provide leadership, support and academic direction to the PA teaching team, medical and non-medical colleagues to ensure high quality programme development and delivery. Either part time, secondment opportunities or job share will be considered.

As the Professional Lead and Programme Director, you report to the Director of the IMS. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders locally, regionally and nationally and lead the academic team in the delivery of high quality programmes of education and training for Physician Associate education, which reflects the agreed curriculum requirements, the CCCU Quality Regulations and Assessment Framework, and CCCU Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy. The excellent student experience delivered through your leadership will enable these postgraduate students to gain employment and develop their careers in the emerging NHS PA workforce.

  • Principal Lecturer appointment; this post will hold line management responsibility for the Physicians Associate Team

The post holder will:

  • work closely with colleagues across the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing, Higher Education Institutions in Kent Surrey and Sussex, Health Education England Kent- Surrey and Sussex (HEKSS) and local NHS partners to deliver the MSc in Physician Associate Studies
  • be the key contact for any internal / external professional issues relating to Physician Associates and therefore represent the IMS on relevant regional / national committees or working groups. For example: the regional HEEKSS School of Physician Associate Studies Board
  • engage in activities to promote the development of the PA profession as it becomes established as a main stream NHS professional grouping.

  • Principal Lecturer appointment; this post will hold line management responsibility for the Physicians Associate Team

The post will be based at the Medway Campus of the University and you will work with staff from the Institute of Medical Sciences.
